As AFN's Software Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for software development quality, process, innovation and velocity.  This includes both following the processes and standards already established for the development team, as well as continually improving both.  The candidate must be comfortable learning the processes of the business and recognizing how proprietary software can improve those processes.  The Software Engineering Manager is expected to both lead the team as well contribute directly to software development.  The candidate must have enterprise experience, but also be passionate about working in a smaller, rapidly evolving, and supportive environment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Requirements

Experience:

  • At least 7 years of professional software development experience
  • At least 2 years of experience with 5 or more of the following:
    • Object Oriented Design
    • Python (preferred) or Ruby
    • RESTful API design
    • Continuous Integration and Jenkins (or similar CI service)
    • Relational database design and SQL
    • NoSQL databases (preferably ElasticSearch)
    • Microservice Architecture
    • Docker or Kubernetes
    • Angular, AngularJS or similar web framework
    • HTML, CSS, Javascript and Typescript
    • Test Driven Development or Behavior Driven Development

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Business Management related disciplines or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in information technology.

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues. May resolve problems within established practices.
  • High levels of ethics, personal discipline and professionalism required.
